LASHING’S CRICKET ALLSTARS HOST GRENFELL FUNDRAISER

In wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, Lashings Allstar XI, an outfit made up of former professional international cricketers played a match to raise money for the survivors.

The T20 match was played less than a mile from the tower against the Lords & Commons XI, a squad made up of serving and former members of the Houses of Parliament.

In addition to raising funds for the Evening Standard’s Dispossessed Fund, the team, known as ‘the Harlem Globetrotters of World Cricket’, provided training for 50 local children affected directly or indirectly by the fire.

The great success of the event has led to similar ones being organised like theĀ #Game4Grenfell football match scheduled for early September at Queens Park Rangers’ Loftus Road ground.

The match will include names such as Les Ferdinand, who grew up on the same estate as Grenfell, as well as other big names like David Seaman, Trevor Sinclair and Alan Shearer.
